What does the course offer pregnant women and their partners
So what does the course involve?
The course is approx eight hours which can be spread over 4 evenings or a full day for those with busy lives
You will find out about all the essentials:
- What to take into hospital for yourself and your partner. Or, home births if that is your choice
- When to go into hospital. Or when to call the midwife if you are having your baby at home
- What happens to your body in labour and how you can help yourself
- What is meant by "Active birth"
- Assisted deliveries, induction of labour, water births and the all methods of pain relief currently available
And then, on to postnatal issues such as:
- How to care for yourself at this time
- Feeding your baby
- Postnatal depression
- All things baby - examination of your newborn child and how to care for your baby
- Caring for each other. Hints and tips to help you cope during this rather special but demanding time for new parents.
The focus of each class will be supported by useful handouts and a further selection of information leaflets that will be of value to you. Classes can be tailored to your individual needs. Refreshments are also provided at all classes.
So when do the courses run?
Courses are held on the following
- Monday: 6pm to 8pm
- Wednesday: 6pm to 8pm
- Saturday: 9:30am until 5pm
Other Information
- Refreshments will be provided at all classes
- On the saturday course a light lunch will be provided
- Tea coffee juices and fruit will be provided at all courses
So how much does this all cost?
Group classes with your birthing partner
- £150 per couple Mondays and Wednesday courses
- £170 per couple for the Saturday class
